At Admire Dentistry we are passionate about all your Oral and Dental Health needs.
To ensure we are thorough in our initial examination, our comprehensive oral examinations for new patients take 40 minutes. This allows our dentists adequate time to collate information about your dental health history, as well as performing a thorough examination of your mouth, teeth, gums, neck and jaw. Additional records such as dental x-rays and clinical photographs may be required depending on your individual needs.
Not only are we passionate about oral health but increasingly, oral health conditions have been linked with general health conditions.
Strong links have been associated with poor oral health and the following health issues:
Cardiovascular disease
Diabetes
Sleep disordered breathing
Ensuring that a comprehensive examination is completed on your initial visit to Admire Dentistry lays the foundation for future general check-ups, which are periodically every 6 months.
We highly recommend doing the check-up and clean examination every six months, even if you don’t have any issues with your teeth or feel any pain. The check-up and clean usually takes around 50 minutes.
Yes, some dental problems and tooth diseases may not be painful or obvious for you. A checkup every six months is required to find out if there are any potential or underlying problems present. We also use a special plaque disclosing dye which reveals bacteria not visible to the naked eye.
Dental check-ups and cleanings should be made routine and vital for maintaining oral health. The process begins with a thorough extraoral examination and intraoral examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth. The dentist will look for signs of decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. X-rays are recommended every 2 years to examine the internal structures and check for hidden problems because dentists don’t have X-ray vision. Following the exam, you will see our hygiene department, where our Oral Health Therapists will demonstrate and give oral hygiene instruction, depending on your individual needs. Once this is complete, they will perform a professional cleaning using the latest EMS AirFlow technology. This involves placing a special disclosing dye on your teeth, which shows new and old-formed plaque and bacteria; this is removed using the EMS Airflow, Piezon, and specialised instruments. The session concludes with flossing and fluoride remineralising treatment.
Yes, cleans are booked in with our Hygiene Department. Our knowledgeable Oral Health Therapists ensure you receive personalised hygiene and dietary instruction and complete your clean using the latest EMS AirFlow technology. Your clean will only include x-rays if you are due or we suspect there is a problem that needs further investigation.
Just be relaxed. Our friendly staff will assist you from the moment you step into our clinic. A medical history form will be sent to your personal device before your visit, please complete this thoroughly before your appointment. If it is your first Comprehensive Exam at our practice, then you will see the dentist first for 40 minutes. Our dentists want to get to know you and listen to your concerns, we also ensure we discuss your medical history with you to ensure we understand the whole picture. Following this, extraoral photos and a thorough assessment will be carried out. Next, the dentist will check inside your mouth, including lips, cheeks, gums, roof and floor of the mouth, tongue, back of throat and all your teeth. Photos are also taken during this time for records. Depending on how recently you’ve had X-rays in the past, we will take a set of intraoral X-rays and/or an extraoral whole mouth X-ray. This is particularly important if it has been more than 2-5 years since your last dental exam, as we don’t want to miss things. Once your comprehensive exam is complete, a bespoke dental plan will be created for you. This includes your appointment with the hygiene department for your personalised oral health visit and clean.
